I love the dark places, dark spaces

Full of untapped potential.

What could be hidden here?

What might I find if I went searching?

Searching in the dark

Not certain of what I might find

Subtle energies guide me.

Look here Siobhan,

Go there, Siobhan.

Uncover that table,

Look into that draw.

Go in, step through that door.

As a child and a teen, I sat in the darkness

soothing my anxiety

dulling, damping the torment of an over-excited mind.

I found comfort in the white noise,

and the perceived emptiness of darkness.

That time when we were ‘locked down’.

I walked the dark streets of Tralee.

The rain spitting down, splashing into puddles that reflected

Stormy skies and streetlights.

Not a soul to be seen, just me and the night.

Walking and talking with each other.

I love dark spaces,  dark places.

Neglected, unused, unseen, forgotten spaces.

I am not afraid.

I know my darkness is my creative potential, untapped.

And it is I who decides how to bring forth this energy.

With light love or with dark love, it does not matter so long as it is with love and most importantly, compassionate understanding.
